The movie “Gifted Hands” comes to mind.
I’d had the bright idea at age 40 to engage in a foot race with teenagers for Father’s Day. My Achilles doubted my sanity and stopped me quite literally in my tracks. I could have sworn one of the boys kicked me!
Dr. Okoroha diagnosed the need and then approached my surgery with such assuredness, skill and compassion. He’s everything you want in a doctor. Brilliant, confident, humorous, kind. Had me in and out in a few hours and my post surgery instructions (I followed most of em) were super clear.
And his assistant Diyondey! Just call her D. My goodness. The woman is a saint. She’s on call around the clock, answering questions, navigating hospital bureaucracy and making the impossible happen. When I needed a follow-up MRI because (ehem) Tybee Island and then (stretch, yawn) RV trip to the UP and they told me you weeks, she got me in the next day!
And when Doc saw me again, he didn’t scold me; he simply ran down for me every. single. way he’d known I offended and rolled his eyes at me... reminding me how lucky I was he didn’t need to go back in. Phew! My point? I’ve got two actually:
    1. They care!
    2. They are really good at what they do if I’m in one piece despite my transgressions and in waaaaaaaay under a year later, I’m already past ready for a rematch on that foot race!!!
Really, folks. These truly are competent and kind people who go the extra mile.❤️
